I finished this book in January 2022. I recommend this book 7/10.
If you are trying to wrap your head around all the hype about climate issues, this is a great book—sadly, I felt the end of the book where Bill was talking about what regular people can do, fell a little short. I wish there could have been a more united front that maybe Bill could lead; instead, he suggests that you should call your congress member.
With that said, the book is very well written. Rarely, a book containing many numbers and statistics doesn't get difficult to read. Get your copy here
My notes and thoughts:
3 things we need to do soon:
To avoid climate disaster, we need to get to zero
We need to deploy the tools we already have, like solar and wind, faster and smarter
And we need to create and roll out breakthrough technologies that can take us the rest of the way
It will be hard: We need to go from 51 billion greenhouse gases to zero.
5 questions to ask in any climate conversation
How much of the 51 billion tons are we talking about?
What's your plan for cement?
How much power are we talking about?
How much space do you need?
How much is it going to cost?
Where does the 51 billion come from?
How we plug in 27%
How we make things 31%
How we grow things 19%
How we get around 16%
How we keep cool and stay warm 7%
