👋 Hello everyone,

John C. Maxwell said, "If you want to do great things and make a big impact, learn to delegate."

Here are a few resources you might have missed:

📚 Book Summary:

This week's book is "The Effective Manager" by Mark Horstman.

The book is written specifically for managers, not top executives. It provides details about how to conduct effective one-on-ones, provide feedback, and delegate work. While the writing was not well-written, the book offers valuable information for managers.

One of my favorite takeaways from the book is this:

"From your organization's perspective, problems are most economically solved at the level at which they are created. You're a more expensive resource than your direct, so you solving their problems isn't what your organization wants from you. Your organization wants you to do your job, point out the miss, ask for better, and have your directs solve their own problems."

✅ Actionable advice:

Protecting your people from problems is not your number one role; putting the business first is. You can't be the hero who is trying to do it all. You can't do both. The military has a phrase that captures the connection between results and people beautifully: Mission First, People Always. You have to learn how to empower your team, delegate responsibilities, provide the necessary resources, and encourage them to take ownership of problem-solving.

Have a great week!
