Leaders Read#51

👋 Hello everyone,

George Bernard Shaw said, " Progress is impossible without change; and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything."

📚 Book Summary:

This week's book is "Think Again" by Adam Grant.

This book will open your eyes to the importance of "rethinking" for growth. Remember learning that Pluto was a planet in school? You would not insist your kids learn that today—scientist changed their minds in 2006. The book teaches you to think like a scientist—constantly questioning, adapting, and evolving. Embracing this will give you the opportunity to adapt, adjust, and grow.

One of my favorite takeaways from the book is this:

"Recognizing our shortcomings opens the door to doubt. As we question our current understanding, we become curious about what information we're missing. That search leads us to new discoveries, which in turn maintain our humility by reinforcing how much we still have to learn. If knowledge is power, knowing what we don't know is wisdom."

✅ Actionable advice:

It's interesting; there's absolutely no benefit to ever being wrong. Yet, we tend to defend our opinions like there is no tomorrow. Great forecasters make two lists: one if "I'm right" and one if "I'm wrong." That leaves the door open for new information. Being open to new information reminds us how much there is still to learn. Being wrong isn't bad if you're willing to change your mind. This willingness is the essence of growing.

Additionally, it's liberating to realize you don't need an opinion on everything. You can say, 'I don't have an opinion about that.' It's your choice.
